At the heart of our site are our Famous Idaho Buried Treasure Hunts.
Idaho became the 43rd state in the United States on July 3, 1890. The number 43 is an important part of our identity and is incorporated into our treasure hunts, which feature 43 clues.

Our Idaho Buried Treasure Hunts are real-world adventures that combine puzzles, riddles, Idaho history, geography and outdoor exploration. Participants follow a series of 43 clues that may eventually lead them to the location of a hidden treasure chest marked by a RED X

Yes. Our treasure hunts involve physical treasure chests that are placed in Idaho for participants to discover. The clues lead hunters to the general location, where they search for the treasure.
There are 43 clues because Idaho is the 43rd state. The number 43 is at the heart of our brand, and each treasure hunt uses the clues to celebrate Idaho's history, geography, landmarks and unique character.
Treasure contents vary from hunt to hunt. Depending on the particular hunt, treasures will include silver, gold, cash, Idaho Star Garnets and may also contain gemstones, jewelry, merchandise and other surprises.
The value of each treasure varies depending on the hunt and the items placed inside the chest. The treasure chest value will always be a minimum of approximately $500.00
Our treasure hunts take place in different areas of Idaho. We use Idaho's diverse landscapes, history, landmarks and communities to create unique adventures. The clues are designed to gradually reveal the area where the treasure is hidden. But, each treasure chest will an approximate location listed on our Treasure Hunt Page.
No. That's the challenge! Participants must solve the clues to determine where the treasure is located. We may provide general information or boundaries for a hunt, but the exact location is part of the mystery.
No. The 43 clues are not in any specific order.
Absolutely! Treasure hunting can be enjoyed individually, but we encourage families, friends and groups to work together. Different people may notice different details in the clues, making teamwork an important part of the adventure.
The difficulty varies from hunt to hunt. Some may require more hiking, navigation or research than others. Information about terrain, distance and other important considerations will be provided when applicable.
